Henry Caraker, b. abt. 1837 in Union Co., IL, d. 1 Aug 1864 in Union Co., IL and was my 1st cousin 5x removed. He was a Private in Co. C, 109th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted 14 Aug 1862 and mustered in 11 Sep 1862. He deserted 5 Feb 1863 at Memphis, TN and transferred to Co. A, 11th Illinois Infantry. Was absent at muster out due to sickness.
Samuel Caraker, b. 23 Oct 1837 in Union Co., IL, d. 11 Mar 1921 in Union Co., IL and was my 1st cousin 5x removed. He was a Corporal in Co. C, 109th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted 14 Aug 1862, and mustered in 11 Sep 1862. Deserted 10 Mar 1863 at Memphis, TN. Transferred to Co. A, 11th Illinois Infantry and mustered out 14 Jul 1865 at Baton Rouge, LA.
Tobias Caraker, b. 24 Jan 1833 in Union Co., IL, d. 17 Aug 1915 in Benton, Scott Co., MO and was my 1st cousin 5x removed. He was a private in Co. C, 109th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted 21 Aug 1862 and mustered in 11 Sep 1862. Deserted 10 Mar 1863 at Memphis, TN. Transferred to Co. A, 11th Illinois Infantry and mustered out 14 Jul 1865 at Baton Rouge, LA.
George Washington Cook, b. 1 May 1837 in Bedford Co., TN, d. 6 Jul 1921 in Dongola, Union Co., IL and was the husband of my 2nd cousin 5x removed. He was a Corporal in Co. E, 109th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted 15 Aug 1862 and mustered in 11 Sep 1862. He deserted 9 Feb 1863 at Memphis, TN and the transferred to Co. C, 11th Illinois Infantry. Mustered out 14 Jul 1865 at Baton Rouge, LA.
George Washington Corzine, b. Mar 1838 in Union Co., IL, d. 17 May 1894 in Union Co., IL and was the husband of my 3rd great grandaunt. He was a Sergeant in Co. G, 109th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted 15 Aug 1862 and mustered in 11 Sep 1862. Was hospitalized Jan 1863, and discharged 2 Feb 1863, with a paralyzed left leg at Memphis, TN.
William A. Graham, b. 10 Mar 1840 in Rowan Co., NC, d. 19 Mar 1864 in Vicksburg, Warren Co., MS and was the husband of my 1st cousin 5x removed. He was a Private in Co. I, 109th Illinois Infantry. Enlisted 14 Aug 1862 at Anna, IL and was mustered in 11 Sep 1862. He died at General Hospital No. 2 at Vicksburg, MS of chronic diarrhea.
William Penrod, b. 26 Oct 1844 in Union Co., IL and was my 3rd great granduncle. He was a Private in Co. C, 109th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted 14 Aug 1862 and mustered in 11 Sep 1862. Transferred to Co. A, 11th Illinois Infantry and discharged due to a disability in Feb 1863. He re-enlisted 15 Jan 1864 in Co. D, 56th Illinois Infantry. Mustered out 12 Aug 1865 at Little Rock, Pulaski Co., AR.
Henry Jackson Hinkle, b. 15 Nov 1841 in Dongola, Union Co., IL, d. 11 Jan 1869 in Union Co., IL and was my 1st cousin 5x removed. He was a Private in Co. G, 109th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted at Anna, IL 15 Aug 1862 and mustered in 11 Sep 1862. Transferred to Co. E, 11th Illinois Infantry and taken prisoner 7 Jul 1864 at Clinton, MS. Mustered out 14 Jul 1865 at Baton Rouge, LA.
Peter Hinkle, b. 24 Mar 1840 in Dongola, Union Co., IL, d. 27 Oct 1917 in Anna, Union Co., IL and was my 1st cousin 5x removed. He was a Private in Co. G, 109th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted 15 Aug 1862 at Anna, IL and mustered in 11 Sep 1862. Deserted 18 Feb 1863 at Memphis, TN.
William Hinkle, b. 3 Mar 1843 in Dongola, Union Co., IL, d. 11 mar 1919 in Balcom, Union Co., IL and was my 1st cousin 5x removed. He was a Corporal, Co. G, 109th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted at Anna, IL 15 Aug 1862 and mustered in 11 Sep 1862. Hospitalized Mar 1863 at Memphis, TN with remittent fever. Transferred to Co. E, 11th Illinois Infantry and deserted 1 Oct 1863.
John Franklin Sivia, b. 1836 in IL and was my 3rd great grandpa. He was a private in Co. G, 109th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted at Anna, IL 15 Aug 1862, and mustered in 11 Sep 1862. Deserted 22 Feb 1863 at Memphis, TN. Transferred to Co. E, 11th Illinois Infantry and mustered out 14 Jul 1865 at Baton Rouge, LA.
Adam Verble, b. 8 Jul 1844 in Dongola, Union Co., IL, d. 19 Feb 1926 in Balcom, Union Co., IL and was my 1st cousin 5x removed. He was a Private in Co. G, 109th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted 15 Aug 1862, and mustered in 11 Sep 1862. Transferred to Co. E, 11th Illinois Infantry. Mustered out 14 Jul 1865 at Baton Rouge, LA.
Eli Verble, b. 30 Jun 1841 in Dongola, Union Co., IL, d. 2 Mar 1863 at Moscow, Fayette Co., TN and was my 1st cousin 5x removed. He was a Corporal in Co. G, 109th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted at Anna, IL 15 Aug 1862 and mustered in 11 Sep 1862. He died during the war at Moscow, TN of typhoid fever.
Jacob A. Verble, b. 9 Apr 1844 in Dongola, Union Co., IL, d. 17 Jul 1919 in Dongola, Union Co., IL and was my 3rd great granduncle. He was a Private in Co. G, 109th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted 15 Aug 1862 and mustered in 11 Sep 1862. Hospitalized with remittent fever at Memphis, TN and then transferred to Co. E, 11th Illinois Infantry. He mustered out 14 Jul 1865 at Baton Rouge, LA.
Levi Verble, b. 1844 in Anna, Union Co., IL, d. 10 Apr 1917 at Wolf Lake, Union Co., IL and was my 1st cousin 5x removed. He was a Private in Co. G, 109th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted 15 Aug 1862 at Anna, IL and mustered in 11 Sep 1862. Deserted 22 Feb 1863 at Memphis, TN.
Tobias Verble, Sr., b. abt. 1837 in Dongola, Union Co., IL, d. 25 Dec 1862 at Holly Springs,, Marshall Co., MS and was my 3rd great granduncle. He was a Private in Co. G, 109th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted 15 Aug 1862 and mustered in 11 Sep 1862 and died 25 Dec 1862 at Holly Springs, MS.
Daniel Verble, b. 1832 in Dongola, Union Co., IL and was my 3rd great granduncle. He was a Private in Co. I, 109th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted 14 Aug 1862 and mustered in 11 Sep 1862. Deserted 29 Nov 1862 at LaGrange, TN.

Willis W. Verble, b. 22 Apr 1841 in Dongola, Union Co., IL, d. 13 May 1906 at Mt. Pleasant, Union Co., IL and was my 3rd great granduncle. He was a Private in Co. E, 111th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted 15 Aug 1862 and mustered in 11 Sep 1862. Transferred to Co. E, 11th Illinois Infantry and mustered out 14 Jul 1865 at Baton Rouge, LA.
Granville N. Wilbourn, b. 1839, d. 23 May 1864 in GA and was my 1st cousin 4x removed. He was a Private in Co. G, 111th Illinois Infantry. He was killed in a battle near Resaca, GA.
111TH PENNSYLVANIA INFANTRY
Chester Daniel Clawson, Sr., b. 1 Jan 1844 in Erie, Crawford Co., PA, d. 4 Jan 1899 in Washington, Franklin Co., MO and was my 2nd great grandpa. He was Corporal in Co. K, 111th Pennsylvania Infantry. Enlisted at Erie, PA 18 Jan 1862. In 18 Aug 1862 was detailed to drive an ambulance while his regiment was in reserve at the battle of Antietam. Was sick at Fredrick, MD 10 Dec 1862 to 10 Oct 1863. Served the rest of the war with Sherman and his march to the sea. He was wounded slightly at Atlanta, GA 17 Aug 1864. He was able to finish out his enlistment and mustered out 19 Jul 1865 at Washington, D.C.

Hugh Rothrock, b. 24 Mar 1837 in Anna, Union Co., IL, d. 16 Dec 1907 in Alto Pass, Union Co., IL and was the husband of my 1st cousin 5x removed. He was a Private in Co. C, 11th Illinois Infantry. Served 1862 to 1865.
George Phillip Verble, b. abt. 1845 in Dongola, Union Co., IL was my 3rd great granduncle. He was a Private in Co. G, 11th Illinois Infantry. Mustered in 11 Sep 1862 and transferred to Co. E, 11th Illinois Infantry. Mustered out 14 Jul 1865 at Baton Rouge, LA.

Jesse T. Adams, b. 11 Jun 1832 in GA, d. 22 Oct 1863 in Union Co., IL and was my 1st cousin 5x removed. He was a Corporal in Co. C, 120th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted 14 Aug 1862 and mustered in 29 Oct 1862.
John Wesley Adams, b. 14 Oct 1838 in GA, d. 23 Feb 1897 in Union Co., IL and was my 3rd great granduncle. He was a 1 Sergeant in Co. C, 120th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted 14 Aug 1862 and mustered in 29 Oct 1862. He was wounded in the leg.
152ND ILLINOIS INFANTRY
Joel Quincy Meador, b. 19 Dec 1824 in Smith Co., TN, d. 3 Feb 1890 in Kell, Marion Co., IL and was my wife's 3rd great grandpa. He was a private in Co. A, 152nd Illinois Infantry.
22ND ILLINOIS VOLUNTEER INFANTRY
Isham Elvis Hodges, b. 30 Jul 1840 in Sumner Co., TN, d. 16 Jul 1916 and was my 2nd great grandpa. He was a Sergeant in Co. G, 22nd Illinois Volunteer Infantry. Between 4 Jul 1861 and 7 Jul 1864 he served under Captain J.S. Jackson and Colonel Henry Dougherty, having been mustered in at Caseyville, IL. He and his company were sent to Birds Point, MO and were in the engagement 7 Nov 1861 at Belmont, MO. They joined General Pope and were at the surrender of Tiptonville, TN where they captured about seven thousand confederate prisoners. They went down the Mississippi river to Fort Pillow and after the battle of Fort Donnelson and Pittsburgh Landing, they went up the Tennessee river and were at the siege of Corinth, and after several skirmishes, marched to Nashville, TN and occupied that city until 26 Dec 1862. Isham was in General Sheridan's division, McCook's Corps, General Rosecrans commanding. He was wounded at Chickamauga, GA 20 Sep 1863, where he was shot in the thigh and sent to the field hospital at Crawfish Springs. Later sent to Quincy, IL, and then to Benton Barracks. He then served on detail duty and in the commander's office until 1 Jul 1864, then was sent to Springfield, IL and mustered out.
2ND TENNESSEE VOLUNTEER INFANTRY
Curtis Stonecipher, b. 26 Jul 1836 in Morgan Co., TN, d. 1925 in IL and was my 2nd great grandpa. He was a private in Co. B, 2nd Tennessee Volunteer Infantry. He enlisted 20 Aug 1861. After signing up he was sent to middle Tennessee. He was in the battle of Stone River, then went into Kentucky, crossed the Cumberland Mountains into Virginia, and was with Burnside's army. He later returned to East Tennessee and was taken prisoner 8 Oct 1863 when he and his brother, Wayne, fell into the hands of the enemy. They later escaped and after three months they rejoined their regiment at Clinton, TN. Curtis did picket duty until the close of the war. On 6 Oct 1864 he was honorably discharged at Knoxville, TN.
Thomas Ezra Stonecipher, b. 12 Mar 1809 in Ash Co., NC, d. 13 Feb 1885 in TN and was my 3rd great grandpa. He was a Corporal in Co. B, 2nd Tennessee Volunteer Infantry. On 23 Nov 1862 he was admitted to West End Military Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. Later on 11 Dec 1862 he was issued a medical discharged due to debility and advanced age.
Joseph Stonecipher, b. 24 Mar 1845 in Crooked Fork, Morgan Co., TN, d. 21 Jan 1917 in TN and was my 2nd great granduncle. He was a Private in Co. D, 2nd Tennessee Volunteer Infantry. Mustered into service 30 Jun 1863. Was at the capture of Morgan in Salineville, WV. Returned to Kentucky by way of Cincinnati, joining General Burnsides forces at Stanford, KY for the East TN campaign. Moved into upper East TN driving all the way to Abington, VA destroying bridges, stores, and railroads about Bristol. While returning to Knoxville, about Rogersville, the regiment was captured on 6 Nov 1863 by the forces of Confederate General Jones. The balance of the war was spent in Confederate prison.
Wayne Stonecipher, b. 2 Aug 1833 in Morgan Co., TN, d. 1925 and was my 2nd great granduncle. He was a Private in Co. B, 2nd Tennessee Volunteer Infantry. He enlisted 10 Aug 1861 and was in the middle division of the army until 1863 when he went to Middle Tennessee, having fought in the great battle of Stone River or Murfreesboro. He then went into Kentucky, crossed the Cumberland Mountains into Virginia, and was with General Burnside. He later returned to East Tennessee, and on 8 Oct 1863 he and his brother, Curtis, as well as others were captured at Rogersville, TN. He and Curtis escaped and were absent three months from their regiment, which they joined at Clinton, TN.
31ST ILLINOIS INFANTRY
Oliver G. Randolph, b. 1838 in Bledsoe Co., TN, d. 11 Aug 1864 and was my wife's 3rd great granduncle. He was a Private in Co. B, 31st Illinois Infantry. Died during the war.
Joel Kenyon Adams, b. 2 Apr 1841 in Rush Co., IN, d. 4 Nov 1927 in Anna, Union Co., IL and was my 3rd great grandpa. He was a Private in Co. D, 31st Illinois Infantry. He enlisted 1 Sep 1861 at Cairo, IL and mustered in 18 Sep 1861. On 15 Feb 1862 he was taken prisoner at Dover, TN during the battle of Fort Donnelson. He was paroled at Airens Landing 17 Oct 1862, then was sent to Camp Butler 20 Nov 1962. He was taken prisoner again at some point after Feb 1864 and according to his obituary he was a prisoner at the infamous Andersonville prison for some time until exchanged with a Confederate prisoner. After the war he spoke much of the terrible conditions at Andersonville. He was discharged 19 Sep 1864 at East Point, GA.

William Murr, b. abt. 1845 in Cook Co., TN and was the husband of my 1st cousin 5x removed. He was a Private in Co. L, 3rd Tennessee Calvary. Served 1 Nov 8163 to 3 Aug 1865.
48TH ILLINOIS INFANTRY
Joseph S. Bryan, b. 28 Mar 1823 in Pickaway Co., OH, and is my wife's 2nd great grandpa. He was a Private in Co. K, 48th Illinois Infantry. He was stationed at Camp Butler, IL then his regiment moved to Memphis, TN, and finally on to New Orleans, LA where he mustered out of service.

Timothy Stonecipher, b. 1835 in Roane Co., TN, and was my 2nd great granduncle. He was a Private in Co. H, 6th Illinois Calvary.

George Gilbert Hays, b. 7 Jan 1844 in Marion Co., IL, d. 3 Sep 1862 at Camp Butler, IL and was my 2nd great granduncle. He was a Corporal in Co. E, 70th Illinois Infantry. He was accidentally shot in the heart at Camp Butler, IL, 3 Sep 1862.
Stephen Decatur Hays, b. 15 Apr 1820, d. Dec 1877 in IL and was my 3rd great granduncle. He was a 1 Sergeant in Co. E, 70th Illinois Infantry. Served at Camp Butler, IL.
71ST ILLINOIS INFANTRY
James Creed, b. 27 Sep 1826 in TX, d. 4 Jun 1902 in Jefferson Co., IL and was my wife's 3rd great grandpa. He was a Captain in Co. K, 71st Illinois Infantry. Between 26 Jul and 29 Oct 1862 he aided in organizing Co. K, and served as Captain. Company K was primarily responsible for guarding the "Big Muddy Bridge" just north of Carbondale, IL. There was a fear that southern sympathizers would try and destroy it.

Ezra Robert Stinecipher, Sr., b. 31 Jul 1848 in Morgan Co., TN, d. 5 Apr 1924 and was my 2nd cousin 3x removed. He was a Private in Co. C, 7th Tennessee Mounted Infantry.
